I’m sure many of you have come across the Wikipedia website before but have you looked up Numerology on there ? I was pleasantly surprised to find an in depth look at the subject (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numerology). Many aspects are looked at including Particular Numbers, Digit summing, Numerological divination, Postmodern critique, Numerology and astrology etc. Here’s their offering on ‘Numerology in science’ :-

“Scientific theories are sometimes labelled ‘numerology’ if their primary inspiration appears to be mathematical rather than scientific. This colloquial use of the word ‘numerology’ is quite common within the scientific community and it is mostly used to dismiss a theory as questionable science.

The best known example of ‘numerology’ in science involves the co-incidental resemblance of certain large numbers that intrigued for example such eminent mathematical physicists as Dirac, Weyl and Eddington. These numerical co-incidences refer to such quantities as the ratio of the age of the universe to the atomic unit of time, the number of electrons in the universe, and the difference in strengths between gravity and the electric force for the electron and proton. As one author has observed however , we are bound to find co-incidences if we look long enough at any sample of numbers and therefore the kind of study that Dirac, Weyl and Eddington pursued ’seems like numerology’ to many physicists (’Is the Universe Fine Tuned for Us?’, Stenger V.J. page 3[1]).

Large number co-incidences still continue to fascinate many mathematical physicists even at the risk of being labelled ‘numerologists’. Thus for instance James G. Gilson has constructed a ‘Quantum Theory of Gravity’ based loosely on Dirac’s large number hypothesis (see Gilson’s web page, about one third down the page[2]).”

A lot of people find accompanying software when they use numerology. There is an offering from Koagel International at http://www.koagel.com/index.html that may be worth a visit if this kind of thing floats your boat. The sales blurb says :-

The product demo on the site is a bit disappointing with screen details that are hard to see but the site tries to combat this with descriptive text. The price is $20 which doesn’t break the bank but check it out and see what you think anyway.

Here’s a numerology site that’s worth checking out at http://www.allnumerology.com/. The site aims to achieve the following objectives :-

• Provide an open forum to anyone interested in numerology.
  Teach Numerology.

  Guide you through the process of doing your own extensive reading with nary a calculation. 
  Resources: Books, numerology software, courses and information.
  Free Monthly and Daily numerology horoscopes.

I’ve gone through this site bit by bit and was impressed with the content and it certainly delivers it’s promises. In particular I suggest you check out the section that shows you how to do your own reading.

I’ve been looking tonight at http://www.cafeastrology.com/timingandnumerology.html which looks into numerology and the future. It looks into Personal Year Numbers (including an example calculation) giving an insight into each from 1 to 9 and then looks into Monthly Cycle Numbers in an easy-to-understand manner.

As you’ll see from the Site Menu on the right, there’s plenty more to discover on this website and I found my visit an enjoyable one.

Here’s something to amaze (or bore!) your friends with. Did you know that Johann Sebastian Bach the famous classical composer used numerology used numerological elements in his compositions ? Well you do now ! Here’s the source of my information - http://www.loyd.net/wacky/number.html.

For those of you wanting to go deeper with your Numerology, I suggest a visit to http://www.certuspersonality.com/intr.htm (though you may wish to start at the home page of http://www.certuspersonality.com). The Certus website sets out to use Numerology and Acrophonology as objective means of assessing personality profiles. Under the heading of ‘Numbers and Numerology/Acrophonology’, we get started with the following hypothesis :-
